Occupational Summary

Responsible for developing and supporting multimedia services (video conferencing, live web casts, video streaming, etc.) for the department/school.

Work Performed

Provide desktop support (hardware & Software) for Faculty, Staff and Students on a wide-range of technical issues.

Provide training and support for programs utilizing multimedia services.

Develop procedures to facilitate efficient operations of systems.

Maintain and manage video-conferencing operations and equipment.

Manage and maintain multimedia classrooms and conference centers, including video and audio production and editing equipment.

Ensure that all video-conferencing, control room, and classroom equipment is in working order (includes preventative maintenance, and scheduling repairs with outside vendors).

Keep up-to-date inventory of all multimedia equipment.

Promote, provide, and oversee multimedia services and support for all facets of operations, including classes, conferences, public events, and general office operations.

Promote the innovative use of multimedia and IT capabilities of the department among faculty, staff, and students, including the development of web-based or written help materials that are layperson accessible.

Educate users on possibilities and procedures associated with school- wide infrastructure.

Advise management on the purchase of IT and multimedia hardware and software.

Provide budgetary proposals for upgrading or replacing multimedia infrastructure.

Coordinate file server and streaming services with other departments such as OIT-DMS.

Serve as liaison with other Duke departments as appropriate in support of the research and mission of the department/school.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training:

Bachelor's Degree is required, related field preferred.

 

Experience:

Generally requires one year experience, preferably within an academic environment, or organization working on information technologies in education.

OR ANY OTHER EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
