Occupational Summary

Coordinate and monitor the IT systems and procedures for the department. Serve as a liaison and project manager for services provided by the department to other areas of the University. Evaluate and assemble the resources necessary to implement new technologies. Provide training to staff in the effective utilization of our systems. Develop and implement audit procedures to ensure we remain compliant with all applicable regulations, laws, and Duke policy.

Work Performed

Monitors the monthly queries designed to detect errors in or problems with the loan processes. Take corrective actions as appropriate. Establishes and manages loan disbursement plans. Conduct regular audits of both PeopleSoft and ECSI systems to ensure compliance with federal regulations and data integrity.

Provide consultation and training sessions to system users.

Oversees and responsible for compliance with all federal, state, and University regulations as they apply to all aspects of Title IV disbursements. Primary liaison with University offices, including Undergraduate Financial Aid leadership, Bursar's office, and SISS office with regards to all Title IV disbursement activities.

Assist the Director in coordinating and administering the student loan programs. Coordinate a major aspect of the office operation. Works with the Director to formulate and implement institutional policy with respect to loan processes.

Participate in development of long range planning for system enhancements and process improvements, serve in an advisory capacity on system upgrades and oversee implementation.

Work with the Director to develop and document office policies and procedures.

Represent Director in meetings and conferences and other affairs, of an administrative nature. Prepare reports and analyses to include financial reports, setting forth progress, adverse trends, and appropriate recommendations of conclusions.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training:

Work requires analytical and communication skills as well as familiarity with the academic setting generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree.

 

Experience:

Work generally requires five years of experience with an extensive background in financial aid and student loans.

OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

 

Skills:

Requires strong analytical and communication skills, and proficiency with PeopleSoft's financial aid module. Other software proficiencies include: Excel, Advanced; Word, Intermediate; Access, Advanced; Power Point; Query Tools/Crystal Reports; ELM
