Occupational Summary

The Core Business Solutions Owner is responsible for ensuring the ongoing success and optimization of the business value. This is a hybrid role, bridging the gaps between business operations, research operations, and technology needs by formulating and implementing holistic strategies to continually drive toward overall operational excellence.

Work Performed

Team Leadership: Establish and lead the Team, consisting of key business subject matter and technical experts. Oversee all efforts to maintain and continually improve the operational effectiveness and business value of the solution, including strategic and operational alignment, process improvement, program and project management skill development, and data- driven decision making.

Governance: Establish and implement a governance framework and processes consistent with other Core Business Solutions Owners in order to guide solution management and decision-making. Work directly with executive sponsors, key stakeholders, the team, and to clearly define and communicate the product vision and steadily deliver improvement priorities.

Cross Solution Collaboration: Work with other Core Business Solution Owners to foster a seamless business solutions ecosystem. Explore opportunities to better integrate the solution with other core solutions, tools, and platforms and avoid sub-optimization.

Continuous Improvement: Champion a culture of continuous improvement, actively seeking feedback from users and stakeholders to drive innovation and enhancements in order to meet evolving business needs, optimize performance, and increase efficiency and effectiveness.

Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with stakeholders to gather enhancement ideas, address concerns, ensure alignment, and adapt to evolving business requirements.

User Engagement: Foster strong user engagement and collaboration among, faculty, research operations, business operations, and technology staff. Facilitate teamwork and knowledge sharing and identify opportunities to improve user experience and satisfaction.

User Training and Support Strategy: Develop a comprehensive training and support strategy to enhance users proficiency, ensuring its maximum utility for operational research teams.

Knowledge Transfer: Ensure that best practices, lessons learned, and insights gained from operating are shared and institutionalized within the organization.

Performance Monitoring: Define and track metrics to regularly assess the solutions performance and business impact against strategic and operational objectives.

Data driven Decision making: Promote data driven decision making by utilizing the project management systems reporting and analytics capabilities to provide insights into project and portfolio performance.

Compliance Assurance: Oversee compliance with industry regulations and data protection requirements relevant to academic research, taking a proactive approach to maintain adherence.

Solution Provider Relationship Management: Oversee and maintain the strategic and contractual relationship

Solution Management: Oversee and coordinate with the technical team members and to stay informed about product enhancements and features that can benefit the DCRI. Stay in sync with release planning and schedule.

Other Duties: Conducts highly complex work critical to the organization.

Considered subject matter expert within discipline.

Works with minimal supervision and with extensive latitude for independent judgment.

Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training:

Bachelors degree required, preferably in business administration; Masters degree or post graduate training in clinical discipline or business or healthcare administration is a plus.

 

Experience:

Minimum of 7 years of experience in program and project management, preferably spanning business, technical, and clinical research settings.

 

Skills:

Extensive project management, personnel management, and supervisory experience on large, strategic initiatives.

Experience managing enterprise-level business, technical, and/or clinical project portfolios.

Knowledge of and/or experience using large PPM tools. Experience with OnePlan is a significant plus.

Experience in clinical/CRO environment in business or clinical operations roles is a plus.

Experience with multiple project funding sources, especially federal government funded projects.

Experience with professional services organizations and external project delivery.

Familiarity with Agile planning and execution principles.

Familiarity with Change Management, process mapping, and data visualization concepts and frameworks.

Familiarity with Salesforce and/or Oracle/Seibel is a plus.

Strong consulting skills, including problem-solving, analysis, oral and written communication, decision making, and relationship management.

Flexibility and comfort with ambiguity.

Technical acumen and proficiency.

Demonstrated success in delivering positive change.

Project Management, Agile, and/or Change Management certifications are advantageous.
