Occupational Summary

Provide overall leadership, coordination, administration and direction for a Scholars Program.

Work Performed

Provide overall leadership, coordination, administration and direction for all activities of a Scholars Program, to include managing, supervising and providing direction and support for the staff and students of the program.

Develop management information reports and/or briefings for making policy decisions and develop presentation materials in support of the program; maintain effective liaison with University administrators, programs or offices to accomplish program objectives.

Represent the program at fund raising events and as necessary at various special events on and off campus; plan and implement appropriate fund raising strategies.

Coordinate and participate in the undergraduate scholarship selection process, working with Scholars Committee and Undergraduate Admissions to recruit, interview, and select scholarship finalists.

Coordinate and participate in the development of an interdisciplinary extra-curricular programs and annual symposium for the Duke community; coordinate and implement other programming and special events as appropriate.

Coordinate interaction among students in the merit scholarship programs. Mentor and support undergraduate, graduate and professional students who might wish to shape a self-designed interdisciplinary curriculum; work closely with faculty advisory board and faculty mentors.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training:

Work requires analytical, organizational and communication skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelors degree program.

 

Experience:

Work generally requires four years of experience in program administration/coordination, or a related field.
