Occupational Summary

The Senior Control Systems Engineering Analyst for Facilities Management Department(FMD) is responsible for the University control systems on Campus. Responsibilities include overall system design, performance monitoring, reliability implementation, evaluating network infrastructure, programming, project design and execution, procedure development, training, problem solving, cost estimating, and system documentation. Their goal is to ensure a smooth operation of all FMD control and monitoring systems in order to provide maximum performance, consistency, and reliability of the systems.

Work Performed

Participate in the design, planning, evaluation, procurement, construction, operation and maintenance of University automation / control systems.

Operate and maintain programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and direct digital control (DDC) devices that support district energy and other facility automation systems.

Monitor facility systems to ensure efficient operation. Manage connections between software and hardware systems in order to ensure reliable and consistent data flow.

Team with other engineering disciplines and commissioning agents to ensure projects and systems are operating within the required guidelines.

Assist in the continued development of University standards to provide guidelines for future project planning, design, construction and maintenance.

Develop and execute control system training programs for relevant staff.

Work with FMD Engineering staff, Vendors, FMD Trades and/or central control room operators to scope and execute improvements as needed.

Update control logic and control source code when necessary.

Build and modify human-machine interface (HMI) graphics screens, graphical and tabular reporting, and other methods of sharing information with operators, technicians, engineers, and leadership.

Work with information technology (IT) professionals to maintain hardware-to-software connectivity and security.

Guide and train more junior team members in technical troubleshooting and problem solving as necessary.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training:

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a Facilities Management related field.

 

Experience:

Requires eight years' experience in Facilities Management or related field including progressive leadership experience.

Experience in a higher education or similar setting or preferred. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
