Occupational Summary

Direct University government related affairs, advising administration as to the potential impact of proposed local, state and federal legislative changes.

Work Performed

Direct University government related affairs, advising administration as to the potential impact of proposed state and federal legislative changes.

Interface with appropriate government offices to maintain awareness of proposals and legislative matters which may affect University operations.

Confer with local, state and federal government officials concerning the interests of the University and the functional impact of proposed legislation; suggest modifications as appropriate.

Establish and maintain contacts with outside organizations and other educational institutions to aid and foster Government Relations activities.

Recommend operational changes necessitated by legislative mandates; suggest alternative policies and procedures to enable the University to accomplish its objectives.

Plan and conduct meetings with subordinates to ensure compliance with established practices, implement new policies and keep employees informed of current standards and changes.

Direct various personnel functions, including, but not limited to, hiring, merit recommendations, promotions, transfers and vacation schedules.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
