Exercise management responsibility for academic and administrative computing and information technology; responsible for directing campus wide data, network, and related services, providing leadership, coordination, and strategic planning to accomplish corporate goals and objectives.
Direct establishment and implementation of computing and information technology plans, programs and schedules for business and finance data processing, computer services, network communications, management information services, and computer assist center.
Develop and establish operating policies and approaches for computing and information technology consistent with Duke University policies and objectives and ensure appropriate execution; appraise and evaluate the results of overall operations of computing and information technology functions. Develop, communicate and manage a central strategic plan for computing and information technology at Duke University; establish infrastructure to support and guide individual departments/schools/divisions in computing and information technology efforts to ensure effectiveness, quality, and consistency with overall objectives.
Provide administrative direction to staff management by applying specialized and technical knowledge in the implementation and execution of planned programs for the various computing and information technology functions.
Determine fiscal requirements of office and prepare budgetary recommendations; monitor, verify and reconcile expenditure of budgeted funds. Coordinate, through accountable management personnel, the establishment of major schedules, task assignments and allocation of manpower and equipment to ensure conformance with specified objectives and policies. Perform various personnel functions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, transfers and vacation schedules.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
