The Athletics Equipment unit is responsible for the issuance, maintenance and upkeep of the equipment and apparel for 27 varsity sport programs, club sports, intramurals, and various other athletic departments' administrative offices. In the function, the equipment unit will provide athletes with the necessary equipment and apparel required for competition and practice. The Executive Director of Equipment Operations will provide leadership for the entire unit, and monitor day-to-day activities. In the role the Executive Director will work closely with head coaches, staff and vendors to provide a tremendous student-athlete experience, while upholding the brand standards for Duke University.
The football program has the most in-depth equipment requirements and safety protocols. As such, this position must be adept in overseeing the football equipment room.
Provide leadership, guidance and direction to sport equipment operation and staff.
Monitor and direct the Equipment room budget including the Athletic Department's relationship with Nike, Inc.
Work in concert with the Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Student-Athlete experience to insure student-athlete wellness and accelerate their experience.
Oversight of the Athletics Department laundry services.
Ensure the accurate and timely ordering of athletic equipment and apparel for designated sports and departments for all 27 varsity sport programs.
Identify and implement a system that effectively monitors the inventory for athletic apparel and equipment and distribute to proper departments for all 27 varsity sport programs.
Assist with set up for athletic competitions and practice.
Perform other duties as assigned in conjunction with serving as an Executive Director within Athletics.
Education/Training: | Undergraduate degree required. |
Experience: | Minimum standards include 8 years of experience with a sport team operation. Preferred 3-5 years' experience in supervision of equipment room staff. |
