Supervise, direct and assist Advertising Salespersons to assure ongoing advertising sales are carried out effectively to meet Chronicle ad level requirements and advertisers' requirements for timely, appropriate and correct ads according to established, sound and ethical sales and business practices; coordinate with other Chronicle managers to plan and implement programs, policies and deadlines.
Supervise, direct and assist Advertising Salespersons to assure that ongoing ad sales are carried out effectively to meet Chronicle ad level requirements and advertisers' requirements for timely, appropriate and correct ads according to sound and ethical business practices; assign accounts to representatives in a fair and systemic manner; systematically assign areas and specific accounts to Advertising Salespersons to assume an effective and fair distribution of advertisers' accounts.
Resolve problems with accounts (other than collections problems) which Advertising Salespersons cannot or do not have authority to resolve.
Coordinate with other Chronicle managers to jointly plan and implement programs, policies, and deadlines as they relate to advertising activities and goals. Work with Editorial staff to provide effective advertising support regarding daily layout ad level and special issues; work with graphics, composition and printing services regarding advertising needs and deadline requirements. Work with Business Manager to forecast advertising sales and expenses, make recommendations regarding advertising records, procedures and policies, credit, production requirements and other related business problems, and to make personnel recommendations. Carry out duties described in Advertising Salesperson job description to service assigned University and National accounts, or to complete activities of an absent Advertising Salesperson.
Direct sales activities and sales support outside the office are usually a small proportion of the total work hours.
Perform other related work as required and especially during the summer months when advertising activity is minimal.
