Occupational Summary

Direct, coordinate and administer programs and activities involved in the recruitment and selection of student applicants for admission to Duke University.

Work Performed

Provide direction and coordination for activities of the Undergraduate Admissions Office associated with the recruitment and selection of student applicants.

Develop and maintain contact with a variety of organizations and individuals to promote University admission objectives and ensure that appropriate procedures and policies are followed.

Plan and schedule work for the staff ensuring proper distribution of assignments and adequate staffing, space and facilities for subsequent performance of duties to attain departmental objectives.

Determine fiscal and personnel requirements and prepare budgetary recommendations; monitor expenditures of budgeted funds.

Plan and arrange meetings with staff to assure compliance with established admission practices; implement new policies and procedures and keep employees abreast of current changes and standards.

Prepare reports setting forth progress, adverse trends, and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.

Manage various personnel functions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, transfers and vacation schedules. Keep abreast of applicable federal policies and guidelines to ensure that the University admissions activities meet federal regulations.

Perform other related incidental to the work described herein. The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this classification.
