Occupational Summary

Perform a variety of data base coordination tasks involving routine and specialized computer procedures related to the laboratory information system.

Work Performed

Perform a variety of data base coordination tasks involving routine and specialized computer procedures related to the laboratory information system. Coordinate in conjunction with laboratory personnel the planning, modification and maintenance of data base designs to reflect laboratory processes and procedures.

Develop and implement testing programs to ensure reliability of computerized procedures in compliance with federal regulations; prepare and maintain applicable records and archives of database changes and validation; evaluate and test all changes to programs and procedures.

Coordinate the process of software upgrading with laboratory personnel to include planning of database and system design and evaluation, testing and validation of program changes.

Assist in the establishment of computer hardware maintenance procedures and in computer hardware troubleshooting.

Assist in the development of training manuals and in providing technical guidance and instruction to laboratory personnel.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training:

Work requires a bachelor's degree.

 

Experience:

Work requires one year of laboratory work experience or laboratory computer system experience.

OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
