Occupational Summary

Supervise, coordinate, and participate in all activities related to the purchasing, storing, issuing, fitting and repairing of athletic equipment, clothing and uniforms for the University. Serve as the equipment manager for intercollegiate sports and campus recreational sports.

Work Performed

Oversee the daily operations of campus equipment rooms.

Supervise all locker room attendants, student managers, and student assistant to include planning and delivering work assignments, planning and coordinating work schedules, and training and development staff.

Responsible for the fiscal management of the equipment budget for specific intercollegiate sports programs as well as campus recreational sports.

Plans budget for area of responsibility.

Purchases equipment and supplies needed; receives shipment of goods, reconciles vendor billings with goods received and approves payments of bills.

Responsible for operating within a budget approved by the Director of Athletic Equipment and the Associate Director of Athletics and C.F.O.

Coordinate and participate in activities related to the storage and issuance of athletic clothing, uniforms and equipment to student athletes, student manager, and coaches.

Help ensure the availability of uniforms and equipment for several Duke University Intercollegiate Athletic Teams and campus recreational sports.

Coordinate the maintenance and repair of athletic equipment, uniforms and facilities.

Inspect equipment for defects.

Work with the athletic training department to ensure proper fitting and adjusting of protective equipment for student athletes.

Decide if equipment should be repaired or replaced.

Perform periodic inventories including assisting with the department wide annual inventory.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training:

Work requires analytical, communications and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.

 

Experience:

Work requires one year of experience in equipment management or event management.
