Occupational Summary

The Senior Quad Advisor is a professional academic advisor who provides comprehensive, developmental advising to first- and second-year students in Trinity College of Arts & Sciences. Assigned to two residential quads, the Senior Quad Advisor serves as a primary point of contact for students navigating course selection, degree planning, and academic transitions. This role oversees the work of two Quad Advisors, each assigned to one of the residential quads. This position also develops and supports quad-based programming, collaborates with faculty advisors, and provides mentorship and training to advising direct reports and staff.

Work Performed

Provide individualized academic advising for first- and second-year students, including guidance on course selection, Trinity curriculum requirements, major exploration, and academic policies.

Support students in identifying academic goals, navigating institutional resources, and developing decision-making skills.

Collaborate with faculty advisors and other campus partners to support holistic student development.

Participate in quad-specific initiatives such as orientation, programming, and academic workshops.

Maintain detailed advising records and track student progress Serve as a knowledgeable resource on college policies, deadlines, and opportunities including research, global education, and pre-professional preparation.

Work with campus partners to uphold and implement the policies related to S/U, W and Course loads.

Contribute to assessment and strategic improvement of the advising model Train and mentor junior advising staff.

May serve on university committees, or coordinate projects across quads May teach a 1-credit course a part of the first-year experience.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training:

M.A., PhD preferred

 

Experience:

Work requires five years of advising or a related setting to become familiar with academic policies, programs and regulations necessary to coordinate related services and activities.
