The Associate Director of Quad Advising in Trinity College of Arts & Sciences supports the Director of Quad Advising in managing a professional advising team aligned with the universitys residential Quad structure. This role focuses on training, day-to-day operations, and coordination with Directors of Undergraduate Studies (DUSs) to support transition to major advising. The Associate Director oversees the major declaration process, ensures academic policies and developmental advising principles are consistently applied, and also supervises specialized advising staff. The Associate Director plays a central role in operational management and serves as a liaison to academic departments, Directors of Undergraduate Studies (DUSs), and campus partners.
Advisor Training and Development
Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing support of Quad advisors Design and deliver training programming for professional advisors (Senior Quad and Quad Advisors).
Develop and implement advising curriculum and digital training modules focused on developmental advising and inclusive practices.
Coordinate advisor communications, including newsletters and resource updates.
Provide individual consultation and guidance to Quad advisors to support best practices.
Contribute to campus events such as orientation, Majors Fair, and Blue Devil Days.
Supervision and Operations
Supervise Quad Advising professional staff.
Serve as Acting Director in the Director of Quad Advisings absence.
Oversee logistics of major declaration each semester, including communication with DUSs and systems management.
Support transitions between Trinity and other Duke schools (e.g., Pratt).
Assist with budget planning and strategic operations for advising- related initiatives.
Assessment and Program Improvement
Assist with assessment and analysis of advising outcomes, including student and advisor experience data.
Use advising data to improve training, programming, and communications.
Help prepare annual reports and planning documents related to advising.
Develop programs and policies to improve support for students from diverse backgrounds.
Collaboration and Outreach
Serve as primary liaison to DUSs and departments on matters related to major advising and transitions.
Represent advising on campus committees and contribute to cross-unit student success initiatives.
Foster partnerships with academic departments and student-facing offices to support integrated advising experiences.
| Education/Training: | Masters degree required, PhD preferred |
| Experience: | 5+ years of in academic advising, academic support, or student services in higher education, with experience in staff supervision, training, and program coordination. |
