Manage distribution, shipping and warehouse operations. Administer the fulfillment function.
Advance and assist with long-term plans and short-term goals for the distribution function.
Coordinate distribution activities among various departments and divisions; resolve conflicting needs; provide guidance to prioritize needs.
Develop and monitor schedules; review status reports; investigate problems; develop solutions.
Evaluate new technologies; revise procedures to keep pace with technological changes; train new staff in the use of new technologies.
Prepare reports and analyses of distribution processes, adverse trends, and make appropriate recommendations or conclusion. Establish effective record keeping policies and procedures; establish and maintain standards to ensure accurate order entry, shipment tracking, and timely delivery of materials; direct and control receipt of orders and release to warehouse; create order management plans for key customers and distributors.
Identify potential warehouse tenant or distribution clients; negotiate contracts; ensure that contractual agreements are met.
Direct the work of fulfillment and warehouse staff; monitor performance; conduct annual performance assessments.
Develop processes to identify customer problems; develop solutions; evaluate quality of work throughout the fulfillment, shipping and receiving process; establish productivity standards.
Create and implement systems for efficient and cost-effective warehouse facility; establish systems to receive and store books and journals efficiently; develop inventory quality and accuracy assurance program; develop stock location and order picking strategies to optimize work flow, space and productivity.
Establish safety and security programs for the distribution facility.
Evaluate and select shipping, packaging and supply vendors; negotiate and monitor contracts.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
