The position of Senior Associate Athletics Director, CFO, helps develop and implement the financial strategic direction in support of the student-athlete experience, ensuring strong communication, integration and teamwork across the entire organization. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Athletics/Administration and Legal Affairs/Chief of Staff, the Senior Associate Director of Athletics will serve as a trusted advisor to the Vice President/Director of Athletics regarding the financial operations and financial strategy of the department. Additionally, this role will lead the efforts in forecasting, monitoring and managing all of the department's daily and long-term financial activities.
Effectively engage the Vice President/Director of Athletics and other members of the department and staff in the financial budgeting process.
Provide executive oversight and leadership for the Business Operations and Information Technology (IT) units.
Lead and administer the Department's financial management function including, but not limited to, the following areas: reporting, budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, financial modeling/analysis, capital project funding, debt management, tax compliance, transaction processing, procurement, travel, audit, and policy development.
Completes Department's financial reporting obligations including year- end close process, NCAA reporting requirements, and other reporting needs.
Prepares financial analyses including standard monthly financial analytics, and various ad hoc management requests.
Provides cost containment/reduction and process improvement recommendations to Vice President/Director of Athletics to enhance operating efficiencies and results.
Prepares and delivers budget and financial presentations to University and other internal and external stakeholders.
Serve as a liaison to Anthony Travel to ensure satisfaction of Department travel needs.
Serve as member of the Athletics Department Executive Staff and Senior Staff. As a member of these teams, participate in establishment and implementation of department policy.
Demonstrate support for, and impacts to the Athletic Department diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging strategic goals.
Collaborate with athletic department personnel and head coaches to develop and implement strategies, policies, and protocol that promote the welfare of student athletes and the success of athletic programs.
Evaluate staff performance and provide leadership and guidance for reporting staff.
Represent the University on NCAA, ACC, and campus committees to represent the department and sport team(s) assigned.
Ensure compliance and institutional control by following all NCAA, Conference, University, and Federal (which includes Title IX) regulations, and embracing the highest standard of integrity and ethical behavior.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Vice President/Director of Athletics.
Education/Training: | Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree (MBA or similar) strongly preferred. |
Experience: | 7+ years of similar executive financial leadership or athletic administration or related field experience required. Extensive background in financial planning, strategic planning, analysis, revenue generation and modeling as well as financial reporting required. Previous experience in business leadership roles within higher education and/or the sports industry is very helpful and a proven track record of setting and achieving high financial goals and objectives. |
