The Engineering Specialist for Facilities Management is a subject matter expert is responsible for supporting the operation, maintenance and repair of building and/or utility systems for Facilities Management Department. Responsibilities include providing technical guidance, performance and reliability review, training, and problem solving for the associated system(s). Their goal is to ensure a smooth operation of the associated system(s) in order to provide maximum performance, consistency, and reliability of the systems.
Participate in the design, planning, evaluation, construction, operation and maintenance of the applicable system(s) as needed.
Team with other FMD staff and other stakeholders ensure projects and systems are running efficiently and reliability and within the required guidelines.
Research and evaluate best maintenance practices for systems and develop maintenance plans that provide necessary system reliability while minimizing costs and system interruptions. Make recommendations to management.
Investigate and resolve system reliability issues, including conducting root cause analyses of system failures.
Develop and maintain standardized operating and maintenance procedures and work instructions.
Analyze data to generate reports and make recommendations for improvements in system reliability.
Assist in the continued development of University standards to provide guidelines for future project planning, design, construction and maintenance.
Develop and execute system training programs for relevant staff. Train staff as required.
Work with other FMD staff to recommend and implement system improvements as needed.
Guide and train more junior team members in technical troubleshooting and problem solving as necessary.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Education/Training: | Work requires a technical background normally acquired through a two year Associate Degree program in a field related to Engineering or Facilities Management. |
Experience: | Work requires 5 years of experience in Facilities Management Operations. Experience in higher education or similar setting preferred. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE |
