This position is responsible for assisting the coaching staff with the total development of Duke University student-athletes. This position will be charged with aiding the student-athletes as they strive to achieve success in the areas of academics, strength and conditioning and in competition. The Special Assistant will work with administration, coaches, strength and conditioning, athletics training and academic personnel to develop a comprehensive plan for the student-athletes success.
- Meet regularly with coaches to assist with the analyzing of Duke and opponent film, preparation of competition strategy, and monitor of the student-athlete success progression.
- Attend all practices and games to assist with charting and statistics while also observing each student-athletes individual physical performance.
- Meet individually with student-athletes to assess their success plan and its progression.
- Assist with the travel needs of the team insuring each student-athlete has what he needs to meet their maximum potential level of success in all areas.
- Assist the Associate Director of Strength and Conditioning/Head Strength and Conditioning Coordinator with the designing of specific individual workout programs for student-athletes that will aid them as the strive to achieve physical success.
- Meet regularly with the Athletics Trainer and Academic Coordinator to monitor the success progression of the student-athletes.
- Work closely with the recruiting coordinator and the coaches to review recruiting documentation, prepare general recruiting correspondence, and assist in all areas of recruiting allowed by the NCAA according to Bylaw 11.7.1.1.1
