Occupational Summary

The Digital Printing Specialist will plan, develop, coordinate, perform and evaluate duplication and digital print equipment needs and material production. Provide the highest level of customer service to meet a wide range of faculty, staff and student needs and preferences. Through technical competency, production scheduling / just-in-time delivery, honing of procedures, and exquisite attention to detail; the incumbent will work to continuously enhance the delivery of print services.

Work Performed

Copy Production and Administration of Course Material - Coordinate the collection of data; compilation of information, and preparation of documents for duplication and digital print. Respond to information requests regarding print services and procedures, and for the preparation and presentation of a variety of materials (e.g., complex merges to create individualized tests and certificates). Maintain liaison with departments to coordinate copy needs. Maintain excellent working relationships with faculty in meeting their day- to-day teaching and research needs.

Work will meet various needs to include: classwork, course materials, both owned and copyrighted materials,program materials, and other event- and research-driven copy and digital print needs.

Manage and meet all production requests.

Manage the custom course pack and pre-assignments processes to include material requests, production, distribution & billing.

Manage and maintain all production supplies to support: high-production machines and duplication and digital print devices throughout the School.

Manage the supply of paper to meet faculty, staff, and student distribution and printing needs (for both copiers and network printers) across the school. Recommend, order and inventory specialized stocks of paper for the Copy Center.

Maintain expert knowledge in the operation of all production equipment.

Provide copier training for: incoming new faculty and staff, as equipment replacements are made, and annual refresher sessions as needed.

Maintain technical competency with copyright legislation and serve as a chief resource to the School on which materials need copyright permission vs. those which can meet the "fair use" guidelines.

Provide quality, quantity, and accuracy checks for material production.

Activities will include training and developing a user guide for various digital print presentations.

Monitor and control expenditures to ensure guidelines for course materials are met, and present budgetary recommendations for equipment additions and replacement. Advise Director of Facilities of procedural anomalies and material financial overruns.

Oversee vendor relationships with those associated with copy and digital print production. Manage and oversee vendor relationships with production, equipment, and supply vendors and assure the School is fully utilizing its own production abilities.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described and other duties needed.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires a general educational background normally equivalent to a high school education plus four years' experience, an Associate's degree in a related field plus 2 years' experience OR a Bachelor's degree.

Experience

Work generally requires four years of experience working with digital copying and computerized production machines in order to be able to develop, coordinate, perform and evaluate duplication and digital print equipment needs and material production while providing the highest level of customer service.
