Occupational Summary

Coordinate and participate in a variety of activities associated with the marketing of products or services.

Work Performed

Assist in the implementation of marketing programs and activities for the Duke University or School of Medicine.

Communicate with media representatives, other publicity sources or consumers to promote department services, which may include books and journals or clinical services.

Coordinate arrangements with authors for a variety of events such as author parties, receptions, autograph parties, photo shoots, interviews on local talk shows or medical screenings.

Coordinate various publicity activities such as preparing review lists, monitoring and updating lists of selected review media for publications, and managing the database reviewer program.

Draft press releases generating publicity. Write and prepare copy for catalogs,book jackets. and web.

Coordinate productions of publications that market the department and services, including bios, brochures and related announcements.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires a background in marketing or promotions normally acquired through two years postsecondary education concentrating on marketing or sales.

Experience

Work requires two years experience as a marketing assistant or related position.
