Occupational Summary
Supervise, coordinate and participate in a variety of clerical activities performed in a clinic registration area of Duke University Medical Center.
Work Performed
Supervise, coordinate and participate in a variety of clerical activities associated with registering patients, assigning payment classifications, making financial arrangements, reviewing accounts, collecting payments and providing information in a clinic registration area of Duke University Medical Center. Maintain liaison with departmental personnel and outside agencies to obrain required billing, insurance and patient history information; answer patient inquiries concerning clinic services and policies.
Supervise the assignment of patients to specific clinic locations and assign priorities to patients requiring emergency care.
Plan and schedule work for the group ensuring proper distribution of assignments and adequate manning, space and facilities for subsequent performance of duties.
Compile statistical reports and analyses reflecting operational activities.
Recommend various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, transfers and vacation schedules.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level
Education/Training
Work requires knowledge of clerical and communication principles generally acquired through a high school education.
Experience
Work generally requires five years related experience of a progressive nature in a clinic or hospital setting to become knowledgeable of complex clinic activities associated with health care services.
