Occupational Summary

Provide staff, students and visitors assistance and instruction with the operation and support of audiovisual and computing devices.

Work Performed

Independently set up, operate, and monitor all types of multimedia equipment (e.g., sound systems, projectors, mixers, wireless microphones, remote controls, displays, videoconferencing systems, IP and analog speakerphones, cameras, digital recorders, and computers).

Regularly assess the functionality of equipment installed in various locations (e.g., auditoriums, classrooms, seminar rooms, and conference rooms).

Perform routine services such as cleaning filters, changing projector lamps and batteries, updating software, etc.

Provide emergency support services and solutions to multimedia users.

Consult with and instruct others in the best practices for available multimedia resources. Meet with users in advance of events to provide multimedia expertise and recommendations for use of equipment. Diagnose and resolve multimedia device failures.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires college training equivalent to non-technical Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree in mathematics or computer science or equivalent technical training.

Experience

Work generally requires one year of experience as a multimedia specialist or related position to acquire competency in the maintenance and repair of multimedia equipment and services.
