Occupational Summary

Perform a variety of courier and delivery duties utilizing a motor vehicle as necessary to ensure the proper distribution of messages, mail, materials and supplies; escort and transport patients and visitors to various areas of Duke University Medical Center.

Work Performed

Perform a variety of courier and delivery duties utilizing a motor vehicle as necessary to ensure the timely and proper distribution of materials and supplies.

Utilize a motor vehicle to transport and escort patients, visitors and employees to various locations as assigned.

Open, sort and deliver incoming mail; sort, fold, stamp and seal outgoing mail; pick up and deliver packages and other related materials as assigned. Inspect vehicle equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil and water; perform routine emergency repairs; maintain cleanliness of vehicle; report mechanical problems and deliver vehicle to service station or garage for service and repair. Set up and clean luncheon facilities; serve food and beverages as required.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions generally acquired through a partial high school education.

Experience

OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Valid NC Drivers license required.
