Occupational Summary

Perform a variety of clerical and manual tasks in the receipt, verification, storage, issuance and delivery of various supplies, materials, gases and equipment for Duke University.

Work Performed

Operate light or medium weight trucks and equipment to pick up and deliver materials and supplies according to priority of need or a predetermined schedule.

Receive and unpack shipments and verify contents against purchase orders and invoices; record receiving reports on all merchandise; prepare reports concerning shortages and damaged materials received; store material according to established procedures.

Load and unload truck by hand or forklift; transport and transfer supplies and equipment from one storage area to another; pull stock to fill requisitions from various departments as directed and complete the relevant forms in accordance with established University procedures.

Assemble new items such as desks, chairs, bookcases, tables and storage cabinets; make minor repair to wooden furniture.

Inspect truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil and water; perform routine non-technical emergency repairs; assist in special inventory of materials, gases and equipment. Assist in special and scheduled storeroom inventories; inform storeroom supervisor of various stock levels and assist in maintaining outstanding orders.

Generate storeroom issue documents using microcomputers, printer hardware and interdepartmental developed software.

Maintain clean and orderly conditions in assigned areas.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires ability to follow instructions, record and log information generally acquired through a partial high school education.

Experience

Work requires six months stocking and inventory experience.

OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Ability to transport and deliver supplies is also required.
