Occupational Summary

Supervise the clerical and manual tasks involved in the receipt, verification, storage and issuance of equipment, materials and supplies in a Duke University stockroom or warehouse.

Work Performed

Supervise the clerical and manual tasks involved in the receipt, verification, storage, safekeeping and issuance of equipment, materials and supplies in a University stockroom or warehouse in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Supervise handling of incoming and outgoing shipments, verification of new merchandise against purchase orders and invoices, price marking and transfer of merchandise according to requisitions.

Maintain outstanding order, purchase order and requisition files; conduct special and scheduled stockroom or warehouse inventories.

Plan and schedule work of stockroom or warehouse personnel ensuring proper distribution of assignments, adequate manning, space and facilities for subsequent performance of tasks. Assist in the buying of cyclical inventory as directed.

Recommend the ordering of equipment, materials and supplies as needed.

Prepare reports and analyses setting forth stock turnover, new merchandise received, shortage or overstock of merchandise and damaged goods.

Recommend various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, promotions and vacation schedules.

Train new personnel.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires the ability to provide information, coordinate the work of other employees, prepare and maintain reports and files generally acquired through a high school education.

Experience

Work requires three years experience in shipping/receiving or related setting.
