Occupational Summary
Supervise, coordinate and participate in the photography of medical, biological and related subjects for scientific publications, records, research and teaching activities.
Work Performed
Supervise, coordinate and participate in the photography of patients, anatomical structures, pathological specimens, surgical techniques and other subjects for scientific publications, records research and teaching activities.
Supervise developing of film, making of prints and production of slides from charts, books, and slides for teaching purposes.
Originate new photographic methods and techniques to obtain results when standard techniques are inadequate. Ensure maintenance and proper functioning of assigned photographic and related equipment.
Maintain inventory of photographic supplies and equipment; reorder as required.
Provide technical guidance and instruction to faculty and staff medical photography techniques and procedures.
Supervise cataloging and filing of photographs and processed film.
Make work assignments and review work of lower level employees; recommend personnel actions to include hiring, performance appraisals, promotions and vacation schedules; train new personnel. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level
Education/Training
Work requires considerable knowledge of photographic techniques, materials, processes and equipment generally obtained through two years of postsecondary training in photography or medical photography.
Experience
Work requires approximately five years of progressive photography experience sufficient to provide supervision and coordination of as well as participation in complex medical photography and film processing activities involving specialized photographic procedures such as funds, cine, fluorescent, and microscopic photography. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
