Occupational Summary

Perform various medical laboratory tests to obtain data for use by physician in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

Work Performed

Perform chemical, microscopic, bacteriologic and other medical laboratory tests and examinations to obtain data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease; record determinations and results for review by physician.

Set up equipment, instruments and apparatus required for specific laboratory tests.

Operate manual and automatic laboratory equipment to make qualitative and quantitative analyses of specimens. Obtain specimens from patients as required using established techniques.

Administer allergy tests to patients and prepare vaccines.

Prepare culture media, chemicals, reagents and solutions.

Prepare slides for microscopic analysis as required.

Assist in the development of new medical laboratory procedures and techniques.

Maintain sufficient inventory of material, supplies and equipment for performance of duties; clean and maintain standard laboratory equipment.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Work requires a bachelor's degree in a field of science related to Medical Technology.
