Occupational Summary

Perform a variety of technical tasks in the maintenance and repair of manually, electro-mechanically, and electronically operated office machines and equipment; test and demonstrate new machines to clerical personnel.

Work Performed

Perform a variety of technical tasks in the maintenance and repair of manually, electro-mechanically, and electronically operated office machines, using standard office machine repair tools.

Troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment using a variety of electronic test equipment; repair electronic circuits by replacing malfunctioning parts; fabricate special components as required; install tubes and/or transistors and other parts and solder connections; test operations against specifications in technical manual; adjust and calibrate component parts for conformance with specified tolerances; test circuitry of electrically operated equipment by using an ohm meter.

Inspect, disassemble, clean, repair and reassemble a variety of office machines and equipment.

Answer service calls from various University offices; make minor repairs on location.

Follow a predetermined schedule of preventive maintenance on office machines and equipment. Maintain inventory of materials and supplies; order replacements as required.

Provide technical guidance to lower level personnel; demonstrate new machines to clerical personnel.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level


Work requires an educational background normally acquired through a high school education with course work in skilled crafts or trades.


Work requires a knowledge of manual, electro-mechanical and electronic office machines and equipment normally acquired through 2 years of experience in electronics repairs or a related field.
