Occupational Summary
The Garage Attendant role is responsible for the operation and oversight of parking resources daily by ensuring guests within the Duke community parking needs are met. This role will support the medical and campus parking operation and assist parkers with payment, gate issues, pay station assistance and customer inquiry resolution.
Work Performed
The garage attendant works in conjunction with our customer experience representatives to assist in the day to day operations of and provide support services insuring all aspects of garage parking are in order, operational and assisting parkers as needed.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with customer experience representatives, maintenance staff, enforcement officers and parking management.
Provide assistance to parkers with ticketing, payment and departure issues daily and providing general information on as needed basis. Deliver parking programs focused on daily and permit holder activity. Follow specific program guidelines and project objectives around parking; Make sure parkers have appropriate resources to achieve objectives and inform supervisors of any issues.
Use sound judgment in responding to inquiries. Work independently and at high productivity levels to assist parkers daily.
Minimize daily parking impacts on the campus community. Alert the parking management of negative impacts / issues daily. Provide information and assistance to help first time parkers get around.
Provide the highest level of customer service to all parkers and attend training sessions with staff to ensure proper use of equipment, understanding of specifics and tasks required. Work closely with customer experience staff for onsite resolution of issues/inquiries.
Follow procedures, standards, and guideline to ensure parking needs are met daily.
Ability to handle multiple requests daily and assist with enhancing the parking experience.
Required Qualifications at this Level
Education/Training
Work requires communications and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a high school education.
Experience
Work requires minimum 1 year of experience in a customer service or parking environment with proven communication and problem solving skills. Skills include ability to multitask and assist guests with requests and inquiries.
