Occupational Summary
Perform a variety of routine non-technical duties related to the operation and maintenance of the Botany Department Phytotron installation to provide controlled environmental conditions for botanical experimentation.
Work Performed
Operate master console according to specific instructions to regulate climatic conditions in assigned plant chambers; move and water plants as required.
Perform routine preventive maintenance and repair on mechanical and electrical equipment.
Prepare soil compositions according to specific instructions for placing new plants into chambers.
Maintain assigned work area in clean and orderly condition.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level
Education/Training
Work requires the ability to understand and follow instructions generally acquired through a partial high school education.
Experience
Work requires six months of gardening experience.
OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
