Occupational Summary
Assist in supervising and coordinating and participate in activities related to the purchasing, storing, issuing, fitting and repairing of athletic equipment, clothing and uniforms for Duke University intercollegiate sports teams.
Work Performed
Assist in coordinating and participate in activities related to the storage and issuance of athletic clothing, uniforms and equipment to student athletes, student managers and teach coaches; help ensure the availability of uniforms and equipment for away football games to include arranging for the packing and hauling of equipment. Monitor daily operations of Equipment Room; assist in supervising the activities of Athletic Equipment and Locker Room Attendants, student managers, and student assistants to include scheduling hours and assigning work; recommend personnel actions. Assist in the maintenance and repair of athletic equipment, uniforms and facilities; inspect equipment for defects; assist in the proper fitting and adjusting of protective equipment for student athletes; collect and clean soiled items of clothing. Perform periodic inventories in satellite storage areas; assist in annual inventory; recommend and assist in purchasing equipment and supplies; follow up on vendor activity; receive shipments of goods, reconcile vendor billings with goods received and approve payments of bills.
Maintain records related to daily and long-range checkout of equipment and clothing; determine billings for lost or stolen items; review records to determine usage of different types of gear and recommend changes in inventory levels; organize and assign laundry lockers to student athletes; assist in maintaining files and lettermen awards.
Assist all sports in relation to equipment needs; visit team practice areas and maintain contact with coaches to determine equipment needs. Assist in correspondence with supporters of Duke athletic programs; assist Sports Information Office as directed.

Required Qualifications at this Level
Education/Training
Work requires a general educational background normally acquired through a high school education.
Experience
Work requires three years of related experience such as an Athletic Equipment and Locker Room Attendant to acquire knowledge in the operation and management of a locker and equipment room.
