Occupational Summary

Plan, coordinate and participate in the establishment and operation of a specialized program and/or activity at Duke University, planning methods and developing systems in accordance with predetermined goals and objectives.

Work Performed

Advise and assist Recruitment management and staff on employee issues and concerns through communicating, interpreting, and recommending appropriate action for background Checks (BGC) and Driver's License checks as part of pre-employment processes.

Support training for all team members. Ensures established team goals are accomplished and deadlines are met. Keep BGC Manager aware of the progress and difficulties experienced by team members.

Ensure team compliance with company policies and procedures.

Provide BGC support to Recruiters. Assess needs and develop customized training for specific departments. Develop and conduct training for internal customers after setting up accounts for DMV checks and BGC login.

Liaison with BGC vendor for analysis of organizational issues, analyses, and other written communication outlining current status and appropriate recommendations or conclusions as necessary or requested.

Exercise discretion, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.

Advise BGC Manager on the status of current activities, additional or expanded program requirements and appropriate recommendations for solution to problems.

Review with BGC Manager whether a candidate will be cleared to be hired at Duke based on current criteria for eligibility. This is evaluated on a case-by-case basis via reports from the Duke vendor as they relate to relevancy, time, and nature of the information provided.

Provide administrative support related to BGC AVP of Recruitment and BGC Manager.

Organize and maintain departmental files of records, reports and correspondence required for reference and efficient operation of BGC processes.

Compile and summarize data to assist in preparing regular and special reports requiring analysis and evaluation of BGC data.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires knowledge of basic mathematical, research and communications principles normally acquired through two years of postsecondary education.

Experience

Work generally requires two years of clerical or research experience to acquire skills in administrative or project research responsibilities as well as accepted office organization, communications and research practices.

A bachelors degree in a field of study directly related to the specific position may be substituted for the education and experience requirement.
