Occupational Summary

Perform routine manual tasks necessary to maintain Medical Campus buildings and facilities.

Work Performed

Perform the duties of housekeeper; Sweep, mop, and vacuum rugs and carpets in assigned area as needed.; clean windows, door frames and walls; clean and service assigned areas.

Maintain sufficient stock and supplies for the proper performance of these duties.

Perform daily terminal cleaning and re-supply of various areas in the hospital to include but not limited to Operating Room and OR sterile areas (nursing stations, locker areas, lounges and scrub sink areas), North Pavilion OR, Emergency Room, and Labor and Delivery unit. Clean and sanitize in accordance with the procedures established by Infection Control and the Department of Environmental Services.

Perform semi-skilled and routine manual tasks involved in the collection and transportation of bio-medical waste.

Perform routine tasks in the cleaning, assembly of materials and equipment as required.

Report tasks beyond capability or scope to the proper authority.

Operate hand truck for transport, delivery, loading and unloading of supplies/sealed medical waste boxes.

Report improper waste disposal violations to manager immediately.

Follow Universal Precautions and proper procedures for the handling of all clinical/lab waste to be transported.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

High School Diploma or GED preferred. Work requires the ability to read, comprehend and follow oral and written instructions.

Experience

Work requires at least one year of general housekeeping experience preferred or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
