Occupational Summary

Supervise and coordinate equipment rental operations through the handling of reservations from internal coordinators and external rental clients, inventory management and the supervision and scheduling of both permanent and temporary employees.

Work Performed

Supervise Special Events equipment rental operations by handling reservation requests from internal coordinators and external rental clients, creating and maintaining a rental inventory control system, arranging for supplementary equipment from commercial companies when needed and ensuring that accounting staff are supplied with appropriate billing information.

Supervise labor force for delivery, setup and takedown of special events by issuing work orders and scheduling temporary laborers as needed during periods of heavy activity; physically assist in equipment delivery or setup as necessary. Supervise setup and operation of warehouse storage location for equipment items.

Maintain equipment in good condition; purchase replacement parts and supplies and arrange for repair and maintenance as needed; maintain inventory control of Special Events equipment.

Recommend purchases of replacement equipment and of new rental items based on market demand.

Recommend rental charge rates based on customer feedback, maintenance and replacement costs and competitive commercial rates.

Accept reservations for meeting rooms and other small facilities at the time equipment reservations are received. Make work assignments; train new and temporary personnel in the operation and maintenance of equipment used for special events.

Perform various personnel functions including, but not limited to, hiring, perforamnce appraisals, promotions, transfers and vacation schedules.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires knowledge of basic mathematical and clerical principles generally acquired through a high school education.

Experience

Work generally requires three years of clerical, warehousing or inventory experience sufficient to acquire a general knowledge of the accepted clerical and accounting practices involved in equipment rental, invoicing and inventory.

OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Work requires a valid N.C. driver's license.
