Occupational Summary

Coordinate and participate in a variety of activities associated with the operation and maintenance of the Botany Department Phytotron installation to provide controlled environmental conditions for botanical experimentation.

Work Performed

Coordinate and participate in non-technical activities of the Phytotron installation designed to provide controlled environmental conditions for botanical experimentation.

Assist in scheduling work for non-professional staff ensuring proper distribution of assignments and adequate manning.

Operate master console in accordance with specific instructions to regulate climatic conditions within assigned plant chambers; transplant and water plants and prepare soil compositions as required. Coordinate and participate in preventative maintenance and repair activities on mechanical and electrical equipment.

Ensure maintenance of assigned work areas in a clean and orderly condition.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires the ability to provide and follow instructions generally equivalent to a partial high school education.

Experience

Work requires six months experience as a phytotron serviceman.

OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
