Occupational Summary
Manage, supervise, and coordinate a variety of security duties associated with Security programming and operations at all Duke Health facilities. This management, supervision, and coordination includes the entirety of Duke Health Security personnel (i.e., Duke Security, Allied Universal Security & Staff-1 personnel). Support Director, Health System Security, with Security programming and operations at all Duke Health facilities.
Work Performed
Supervise security personnel (proprietary and/or contract) and recommend various personnel actions including, but not limited to, disciplinary actions, promotions, transfers, and vacation schedules.
Inform personnel of work priorities and security concerns.
Monitor and evaluate job performance and refer deficiencies for appropriate action.
Analyze data regarding security activities to determine patterns and effectiveness of security activities.
Review work schedules ensuring adequate security coverage for daily security, high priority and VIP details in and around the medical center.
Assure security personnel are properly notified and prepared for situations requiring emergency callback or implementation of the Severe Weather Policy.
Attend meetings and/or briefings as assigned by supervisor.
Maintain a log of activities.
Review and approve, as necessary, FTO manuals and reports written and submitted by security personnel.
Review, as necessary, training logs to assure compliance with annual in- service training by security.
Monitor written communications (DAR's, E-mails, and Reports).
Assist Police Officers when necessary.
Report and control unauthorized or suspicious persons, unsafe conditions or other irregularities.
Perform safety and equipment inspections.
Provide information and assistance to patients, medical center staff, and the general public.
Perform other security-related duties and tasks as directed. Support Director, Health System Security, with Security programming and operations at all Duke Health facilities.
The schedule for this position requires working a flexible schedule, including weekends, to assist in providing mentorship and managerial oversight to Security and Healthcare Facility leadership and staff.

Required Qualifications at this Level
Education/Training
Work requires High School Diploma or GED, and a valid North Carolina Driver's License; Associates or Bachelor's degree in any field preferred.
Experience
Five years of management or supervisory experience required; prior military, law enforcement, public safety or security supervisory experience preferred; experience using personal computers with a strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Windows applications.
