Occupational Summary

Supervise and coordinate work activities required for assigned construction projects that impact Duke Hospital.

Work Performed

Plan and coordinate a variety of work activities involved in E&O construction projects for Duke Health. Meet with project requestors to define the scope of work, develop drawings and create a cost estimate.

Be the first point of contact for the installers and subcontractors while maintaining liaison between Medical Center Engineering and Operations Department and all parties concerned to discuss modifications and adequate solutions to project problems.

Obtain and communicate updates on project status. Work closely with the construction crew and oversee every step of the construction process including procuring subcontract labor and material.

Discuss project details with Architects and Engineers as well as Hospital Division supervisors and FPDC.

Apply for and maintain ICRA guidelines, perform quality control audits, update Life Safety drawings and ensure that the project is being completed in a safe and efficient manner.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires an educational background normally equivalent to a high school education plus 2 years specialized training or apprenticeship in a building trade such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or carpentry.

Experience

Work requires five years' experience in maintenance and construction to acquire knowledge of construction techniques, methods and equipment

OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
