Perform routine histopathological tests in a Duke University laboratory for use in the treatment and diagnosis of disease.
Prepare surgical, autopsy and research tissue for microscopic examination in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
Prepare equipment for processing, embedding, microtome cutting, and mounting of tissue; perform routine special staining techniques. Label and record slides of specimens received; provide specimens for microscopic examination and diagnosis by the pathologist.
Obtain and log specimens from the operating rooms as required. Perform frozen cryostat sectioning with assistance from assigned employees.
Assist in setting up equipment, instruments and apparatus for specific laboratory techniques.
Check work of assigned employees to ensure that staining work performed meets specified quality standards.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level
Work requires an educational background generally equivalent to a high school education.
Work requires one year of related experience.
