Occupational Summary

Staff performing in this position complete an array of tasks related to Special Events parking management and traffic ingress/egress plan implementation including: equipment assembly, setup and breakdown, creation of complex sign packages with associated distribution plans, maintain equipment/sign inventory, creation and distribution of post orders for contract staff, perform post assignments, attend pre-event planning, etc. Provides outstanding customer service to guests and assist Special Events Manager by providing on-site supervision of secondary events and oversees special events monitors.

Work Performed

Oversight and supervision of event staff prior to, during and after events.

Insure accuracy of logs showing contractor hours worked to facilitate billing.

Work autonomously with limited direct supervision, making minute by minute decisions using Parking and Transportation Service policies, previous experience, documented plans and sound judgment.

Conduct pre-event briefing and post-event debriefings with contract staff on event/game plans.

Develop and maintain strong working relationships with event planners, Duke colleagues, and Community leaders.

Create event and directional sign packages for small, medium, large events.

Help maintain adequate inventory of work materials, including adhesive vinyl, coroplast, A-frames, cones, linears, barricades etc.

Maintain accurate logs including cost of signs/banners made for sell, quantity of lettering per roll, quantity of vinyl strips per roll etc.

Confer with other staff to ensure all equipment and signage are distributed and retrieved in a timely matter.

Repair and replace special events equipment as needed, to include cleaning of A-frames, barricades, cones, linears etc. Perform accident/incident reports as necessary.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires general educational background normally equivalent to a high school education. Ability to obtain and keep a NC driver's license.

Experience

Work requires one year of experience in an environment supporting events.

Or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Skills

Basic computer knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Outstanding communication and listening skills. Strength in customer service.
