Occupational Summary

Assume lead responsibility for a shift in assigned work areas to include monitoring work and giving directions to employees in lower level classifications; participate in baking goods and preparing food in large quantities.

Work Performed

Assume lead responsibility for a shift in assigned work areas; monitor work activities, give directions to lower level employees, and participate in the work performed by production workers and other food service personnel.

Review recipe for each menu item; determine the need for supplies; prepare storeroom requisitions according to policy and ensure all needed supplies are available and delivered from storage areas; notify supervisor of shortages and other related problems.

Assist in food and bakery production planning; recommend substitutions and use of leftover food; determine batch volumes and order of baking according to customer acceptance, time of attendance and demand; prepare reports setting forth quantities of food prepared and served.

Prepare food and fancy specialty items for special functions and perform the more complex baking and food preparation duties.

Make work assignments; monitor work activities to ensure proper performance and completion of work schedules; train new personnel in proper work techniques and in use of supplies, materials and equipment.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires the ability to provide and follow instructions, interpret recipes, use fractions to modify proportions and mix, measure and/or prepare ingredients generally acquired through a high school education.

Experience

Work requires one year of food production experience.
