Occupational Summary
Assist in the calibration, troubleshooting, monitoring, analysis, maintenance and repair of a variety of electric and electronic control equipment to achieve better Utility Plant and Building system effectiveness and efficiency.
Work Performed
Inspect, test, troubleshoot a variety of electric and electronic equipment including such hardware as sensors, control panels, input/output panels, flow meters, steam meters, and relays panels as related to utility and building HVAC control systems.
Calibrate a variety of control and metering devices located in the utility plants and/or used in the control, monitoring, or metering of the utility systems on campus.
Carry out approved maintenance and repair duties in accordance with instructions and maintenance schedules on all main control panels on campus. Panels include, but are not limited to, Siemens - MBC, MEC, PXC, PXCM, FLNCNTRLs; Trane - Summit; Honeywel-HC900, ION-Circuit Monitors.
Panel maintenance to also include all devices necessary to enable these panels to communicate with each other and the host server.
Monitor building (Siemens Apogee) and utility plants(Siemens Apogee, Honeywell HC900. ION Enterprise) control systems to achieve better operation and energy efficiency.
Assist utility and building maintenance personnel in the survey of areas necessary to update control graphics.
Provide data necessary to the design and development of system modifications and to facilitate the preparation and maintenance of accurate control diagrams for building and utility plant systems.
Respond to after-hours emergencies Assist in the accumulation of data necessary to improve operation of the HVAC and utility systems for effective Energy Management.
Assist Energy Management Personnel on the troubleshooting of system communication issues.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level
Education/Training
Work requires an educational background normally acquired through a high school education plus formal technical training in electricity or electronics.
Experience
Work requires a working knowledge of electronic control systems normally acquired through 3 years of experience in the operation, inspection, testing and repair of electronic control systems. Experience with Siemens Apogee Building Control System and Honeywell HC900 system a plus.
