Leading audits of Duke University or Duke University Health System to ensure effectiveness of internal controls and accuracy of recorded data.
Initiates the planning process, coordinates information gathering meetings, researches operational and financial data for the related project.
Assesses the project risks and develops the audit approach.
Develops the audit programs.
Sets the agenda for and leads entrance meetings.
Provides clear direction and priorities, clarifies roles and responsibilities, and facilitates effective communication throughout the project.
Develops an understanding of financial, operational and system processes and relevant controls.
Conducts test work and clearly documents and concludes on work performed.
Reviews work papers prepared by auditors for adequacy of content and reasonableness of conclusions and recommendations.
Develops recommendations to address issues detected.
Drafts and/or reviews the audit report assuring sufficient clarity and conciseness, grammatical and spelling accuracy.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level
Bachelor's Degree in accounting, or related field.
CPA or CIA desired
Requires three to five years audit accounting experience.
Experience in not-for-profit, governmental, or colleges and universities is desired for the University auditors.
Health care experience is desired for Health System auditors.
Public accounting experience preferred.
Strong oral and written communication skills. SAP, Hyperion and ACL experience desired.
