Occupational Summary

Reporting to the Director of Duke University Personal Assistance Service (PAS), the assistant director provides oversight of the daily clinical services, provides direct clinical and consultative services to PAS clients, and assists with the administrative operations of PAS.

Work Performed

Coordinates the provision of clinical services including initial assessments, short-term counseling, referral, crisis intervention, case management, and after-care resources for faculty, staff and their immediate family household members.

Provides direct clinical and consultation services for PAS clients.

Serves as the PAS team leader on the Critical Incident Response Program.

Coordinates the schedules for administrative and clinical staff.

Supervises the daily work responsibilities of the staff assistant and PAS counselors.

Responds to requests and helps facilitate leadership consultations for supervisors and managers regarding employee or workplace issues.

Coordinates delivery of workshops and occupational mental health presentations for organizational units.

Works with internal and external providers in the provision of services to employees and their family members, and facilitation of treatment and after-care planning.

Assists PAS Director with program development activities, and program implementation.

Assists PAS Director with management of external vendors delivering EAP services to other Duke Health System entities.

Works with the Director to manage the program data for trend analysis and service report development.

Helps establish processes, internal policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure consistency and standardization for program effectiveness.

Maintains knowledge related to federal and state law, professional standards, and national trends related to mental health and EAP.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Master's degree in Mental Health field required.

Doctoral Degree (PsyD or PhD) in Mental Health field preferred.

Clinical Licensure such as LMCHC (Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor), LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) and Licensed clinical or counseling Psychologists with PsyD or PhD.

Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP) or CEAP eligible preferred.

Experience

6 years of direct or related experience with an EAP or comparable mental health setting required. 2 years of supervisory experience required. Extensive training and experience in mental health, clinical assessment, psychotherapy, organizational issues, and EAP services required. Administrative experience in a clinical setting and experience in higher education or healthcare environment preferred.
