Direct development of programs and strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward alumni and friends of the Medical Center for significant gifts to fund Medical Center priorities and projects.
Administer programs to identify, cultivate, solicit and track major gifts from alumni and friends of the Medical Center, directing development staff and working with administrators, satellite development directors and University Development to set fund raising priorities, process and strategy.
Develop and implement a major gifts process that encompasses prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major donors to Duke University Medical Center (DUMC), that incorporates all Medical Center major gift activity, and that ensures coordination with the broader University efforts; serve as central information source for DUMC major gifts.
Establish major gifts policies with regard to process, portfolio, assignments, reporting, use of resources, conflict of interest, prospect relationships, skill training and other areas needed to provide clear expectations, tools, guidelines for decision making and standards by which progress can be evaluated and problems identified; assign prospects, coordinate the development of strategies, track progress and evaluate results of staff.
Track progress and prepare monthly financial report.
Increase and manage the level of volunteer involvement, working with the DUMC Board of Visitors; develop model for Board of Visitors major gifts efforts; develop prospect-based plan for volunteer involvement by region.
Maintain communication with faculty and increase and manage the level of faculty involvement to enhance major gifts activities.
Establish and maintain contact with selected major gifts prospects to develop their interest and participation in DUMCs fund raising projects and to provide information concerning utilization of gifts.
Maintain liaison with Alumni Programs and Annual Giving staff for prospect identification, coordination of donor prospect activity, and coordination of regional activity, with Prospect Research staff for prospect identification, research, and prospect tracking, and with donor relations staff to develop appropriate and efficient cultivation events, as well as acknowledgement, recognition and stewardship programs.
