The primary purpose of the MRO Storeroom Manager is to oversee the procurement, delivery and inventory of material used by the Engineering & Operations divisional staff to construct, maintain and repair Duke Medical Center and Health Systems facilities assets.
This position has management responsibility for the overall storeroom operations and staff.
Analyze and review daily material issues for accuracy and trends.
Implement corrective actions as appropriate.
Prepare monthly performance reports based on defined metrics.
Manage and maintain appropriate internal controls for the distribution, purchase, receipt and security of materials.
Add and remove materials from inventory as appropriate based on specific criteria.
Establish initial material par levels and adjust as appropriate based on volume usage.
Oversight of delivery vehicles to ensure they are in best operational condition.
Develop an intermediate level knowledgebase of the SAP Inventory Module and the implications of specific inventory adjustments.
Perform periodic material cycle counts to reconcile the physical inventory to the SAP inventory values.
Chair a Leadership Steering Committee responsible for review of MRO procedures with direct operational impacts.
Develop storeroom layouts and material assignments.
Identify ways to improve efficiencies within the material handling process.
Document and maintain operational processes and procedures.
Implement policies and procedures which promote staff safety and fulfills OSHA guidelines for fork-lift training, etc.
Maintain storeroom best practices and develop and maintain an understanding of Duke purchasing policies and procedures.
Manage daily operations.
Including staff assignments and performance expectations.
Provide appropriate training as required.
Seek opportunities for staff development and training.
Develop and maintain good customer service relationships with all E&O divisional areas; i.e., Clinic, Construction, Hospital and Research.
Establish performance metrics to assess customer feedback.
Establish and maintain good working relations with the Procurement Department.
Position develops sensitivity for the politics of the environment, communicates and/or escalates issues as appropriate.

Required Qualifications at this Level
Minimally a college degree with a study emphasis in logistics or business preferred. Demonstrated warehouse experience can be substituted as formal educational training.
Minimum of 3-5 years of related warehouse experience; 3-5 years of direct staff supervision; knowledge of accounting, storage, record keeping and inventory methods.
Candidates must demonstrate excellent leadership skills and the ability to lead as well as work with the team to fulfill the storeroom core mission.
Experience and knowledge using SAP is a plus.
