Occupational Summary

Oversee financial and administrative resources to develop a long-term strategic plan and sustainable Product Development Programs /Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) business model within the SOM GMP academic environment units.

Work Performed

Design and implement a change management plan for all business strategic initiatives.

Perform strategic financial planning, including the development of long- term financial projections and forecasts. Help identify potential financial liabilities within the SOM Product Development Units.

Monitor and report on the overall financial health of the SOM Product Development / GMP Units by using metrics, key performance indicators, and dashboards.

Support SOM senior leadership business decision-making by managing, prioritizing, and synthesizing operational, space, and financial needs. Develop and maintain a data repository to provide relevant information that supports strategic planning and decision-making.

Develop and direct the implementation of communication strategies, including a framework for communicating and building awareness of and support for Product Development/GMP's mission and activities with both internal and external constituents as needed to support the SOM Product Development mission.

Maintain communication with SOM leadership to report and address business and financial issues in a timely manner.

Review the GMP annual operational budgets for SOM GMP/Product Development Units, and create secure short and long-term financial strategies to maximize funds.

The Product Development/GMP SOM portfolio includes grants and contracts with the expectation that the funding sources may include a mix of non- federal external direct clients and the potential establishment of a service center. The mix of these various funding sources is unique in an academic setting and compounds complexity of GMP resource management.

Provide effective review of business-related activities, including finance, budget, and space and facilities planning in support of the SOM Product Development/GMP Units.

Oversee the creation and delivery of detailed financial reports and presentations for internal stakeholders, ensuring consistency and quality, congruent with the mission and values of the SOM.

Research software applications and tools that may be implemented to improve and accelerate the compilation of financial statements, financial forecasting, effort models, and effort forecasting.

Support SOM leadership with acquisition of data and information to assure that Product Development/GMP Units so that cross-programmatic operations are supported and optimized.

Perform other duties as assigned by GMP and DHVI leadership.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires a Bachelor's degree; Master's Degree preferred.

Experience

Work requires 10 years of progressively responsible experience supporting business/financial management of Product Development/GMP programs.
