Occupational Summary

The Associate Director of Black Church Studies, will report directly to the Faculty Director of the Office of Black Church Studies (OBCS). This position is multi-project oriented and requires exceptional interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal communication skills. The associate director of programs and office administration will provide expertise in program development, management, and logistics. The position will supervise the OBCS staff assistant as well as all interns and student volunteers.

Work Performed

Direct the strategic planning, development and implementation of the Faculty Director's programmatic vision.

Supervise program staff by providing direction, input and feedback, and to ensure best practices and a high rate of efficiency with regard to programs and policies.

Manage funds and ensure that the program operates within the budget. Track and reconcile departmental budgetary records, and provide monthly log/process reports to Faculty Director.

Utilize SAP R/3 for reconciliation and reference.

Develop new initiatives to support the strategic direction of Office of Black Church Studies (OBCS) programs.

Manage OBCS social media platforms.

Serve as a resource person for OBCS students and clientele.

Represent the OBCS at all staff meetings.

Coordinate detailed arrangements for luncheons, receptions, guest lecturers, and other special events sponsored by areas within OBCS.

Develop forms and records to document program activities.

Certify that student and program files for the OBCS are properly maintained by the staff assistant.

Serve as a liaison with administrative personnel, faculty, students, alumni, churches, and donors on behalf of OBCS.

Schedule weekly meetings with Staff Assistant and OBCS student workers to ensure that projects are being handled in a timely manner.

Compile and summarize data and assist in preparing regular and special reports requiring analysis of data; review reports received for Director; check and compare with source documents and bring significant items, changes, errors or omissions to the attention of the Faculty Director.

Assist with coordination of communication and travel logistics for groups participating in travel seminars and pilgrimages hosted by OBCS.

Support director in drafting letters and other correspondence.

Prepare routine marketing/promotional pieces, coordinate mailings and update databases.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires communication, coordination and administrative skills normally acquired through a Masters degree.

Experience

3 years of administrative experience.

OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
