Occupational Summary
Assist the Dean, Duke University Divinity School in such duties as may be assigned or delegated; direct the administration of assigned functional areas; recommend policies and procedures. The Associate Dean will report to the Dean, Duke University Divinity School.
Work Performed
Assist the Dean, Duke University Divinity School in such duties as may be assigned or delegated; direct the planning and administration of assigned functional areas. Develop and coordinate the implementation of new initiatives and programs; collaborate with community leaders in the development of joint programs; improve and build upon existing initiatives and programs; provide direction, supervision, and guidance to centers and programs. Develop, recommend, and implement policies and procedures for departments and the school. Establish and maintain contacts with outside organizations such as government agencies, professional organizations, law firms, and other colleges, universities and law schools to aid in achieving the overall objectives of the Divinity School. Determine fiscal requirements of departmental programs and formulate budgetary recommendations; ensure prudent financial management by complying with policies and procedures. Prepare reports and analyses for the Dean and others setting forth progress, adverse trends, and appropriate recommendations or conclusions. Assist in the strategic planning of educational engagement for faculty, staff and students. Recommend various personnel functions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, and transfers. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. Required Qualifications at this Level
Education/Training
Work requires communications, analytical and organization skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program. Masters degree in a related field preferred.
Experience
Work requires six years of experience in program administration, continuing education or a related setting to acquire skills necessary to plan, develop and coordinate a variety of seminars, conferences, workshops and short courses.
