Occupational Summary

Develop, facilitate, monitor and update market plans to deliver health care programs and services for a specified portfolio of clinical services; assist clinical departments with the planning, analyses and implementation of strategies to facilitate marketing initiatives.

Work Performed

Coordinate analysis and collection of data to respond to proposals for managed care contracts, promotional activities, clinical service business planning and external affiliations activities; assist data analysts in the design and development of market reports.

Develop and implement promotional strategies for designated clinical services and identify opportunities for development; create and/or refine programs and services; develop strategies to differentiate Duke programs and services from those of other providers.

Operationalize market plans by specifying tasks, time frames, responsibilities and methods of evaluation; support assigned service line managers by convening regular service line marketing meetings and performance reviews involving key participants.

Organize and coordinate a comprehensive planning process to determine specific goals, strategies and objectives that support the clinical service marketing plan; conduct internal and external situation analysis, model future scenarios to evaluate financial impact and assist in the development and presentation of feasibility analyses. Monitor outcomes for clinical service development planning and external affiliations activities; assist in evaluating the effectiveness of marketing strategies and make appropriate adjustments to achieve desired results. Coordinate efforts of physicians, clinical leadership, business managers, service line managers, managed care and financial analysts, affiliations managers, communications and public relations staff to accomplish marketing goals and objectives. Prepare reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires a general business background generally equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a business related field.

Experience

Work requires four years related business or administrative experience to acquire competence in a variety of activities related to health service marketing and health administration planning.

A master's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Health Administration, or Public Policy may be substituted for two years experience.
