Occupational Summary

Coordinate and monitor the development and administration of training programs designed to meet departmental management and personnel training needs and to ensure compliance with policies and objectives.

Work Performed

Coordinate the development of training programs by consulting with department heads and/or trainers to identify and evaluate specific areas in developing training needs; design and conduct staff surveys regarding developmental training needs, evaluate data; design and present educational modules; provide resources and advice to management and/or trainers in developing training programs; and coordinate the implementation of training programs to ensure consistency between the programs and training objectives.

Evaluate effectiveness of training programs by conducting follow up studies to determine impact of training program on trainees and recommend changes as required.

Conduct research of current training concepts, techniques and programs within and outside of the university for possible application with the division or department.

Maintain resource center of subjects relevant to the department or division to be utilized by designated personnel.

Supervise and coordinate the activities of personnel engaged in training, orientation or other related activities within assigned department.

Recommend various personnel actions including but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, promotion, transfers and vacation schedules.

Identify personnel, institutional and materials needed to accomplish objectives; provide input to the annual budgetary requirements for training operations.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work herein described.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training

Work requires a general business background generally equivalent to a bachelor's degree in education, business or a related field.

Experience

Work requires 3 years related training and/or administrative experience to become familiar with general principles of adult education and the design/delivery of educational modules.

A master's degree in education or a business related field may be substituted for 2 years experience.
